Later, Qavurt’s son entered the palace and criticized Alparslan’s decision regarding Siraz. Seferiye urged Merdan to comply with Sultan’s orders and permitted him to meet with Qavurt.
Qavurt instructed his son to assail Siraz and divulged his strategy. Upon discovering Bagrat’s departure from the battlefront, Leon anticipated an imminent Turkish assault on Ani. He pledged to rally troops and armaments from Sevaste and transport them to the forest slave encampment in order to stall the impending onslaught. Alparslan outlined his plan to attack Ani and commanded the reopening of schools based on Seferiye’s advice. Cato recognized that he could no longer employ the children and requested assistance from Leon.
Alparslan was informed that the fresh recruits had journeyed to the slave camp and insisted on taking control of it. Bagrat paid a visit to the palace and made a request for castles to Alparslan. Alparslan wished for the King to convert to Islam, but he was unsuccessful in persuading him. A soldier reported that an individual was excavating graves and pilfering the corpses.
Cato instructed a spy to incinerate the school and dispose of the bodies in that location. Upon discovering the school fire, Alparslan swiftly inspected the premises. A soldier claimed that the thieves were only taking the deceased bodies of children, but Alparslan saw through the deceit and mobilized his entire army to assault the captivity area. While this was happening, Qavurt departed from the palace and escaped with Mansur. However, Leon exploited the vulnerable hostages by threatening to harm them if Alparslan made a move to attack.
